Hey! Zelda Symphony 2012 Toronto

Just a little while back, I got the opportunity to see a live zelda concert with other zelda loving friends.
It was a FANTASTIC day. The symphony did incredibly well despite such a ruckus from the crowd. Speaking of which, I was a little bit surprised in seeing how informal the audience was, but this was also to be expected. Many people came here either to cosplay and/or just cheer for their favourite gaming series. Proper wear wasn't necessary with these peeps! You went there to cheer!

(I gotta be honest, I thought Fi was the weakest sidekick in the series, but the cosplayer did an awesome job and this Groose was the best! hehe, probably the greatest comic relief character in any Zelda history, and the cosplayer was bang on)

(Yes yes and yes, the composer here is bringing out her wind waker baton just before playing theWW tracks.  The overworld ocean theme will always be my favourite just for the sheer size and distance it delivers)

Another small complaint was the audience during the show. Unfortunately there were a lot of desperate people trying to get laughs and positive attention from everyone... by shouting the stupidest shit WHILE the symphony was playing.  Ugh, but that's my only real complaint. I would be a fool if I didn't prepare for it.

Overall, the experience was great. The music and video editing was what I was expecting and more. My only regret was that they didn't tap much into Majora's Mask BUT they gave lots of love and attention to ALttP, which I can't complain about. The covers were splendid and many such as Ganondarfs theme blew the originals away. It was honestly just mesmerizing.  <3

And I got a cool tee out of it so that's ... pleasant. Everyone will know now.

Calgary - August - 2012

Hello!
So I've been away, and for reasons. I have some photoshoots I would love to post, just still waiting upon permission/ editing/ everything almost. On top of that, the trip here sort of took a chuck out of my schedule. And that's not bad.

Just recently, I went to Calgary to see a fantastic person.
Upon the many things we did, we eventually decided on heading over to 16th avenue, a street with many different stores for my tastes. :D
Once I found a handful of dvds, I decided, screw it. I'm going to splurged my money on everything. The massive deals were just two tempting. Buy one tv series on dvd and get another one free?
Hell yeah here's me dough

I will say, my favourite purchases by far was the incredibly cheesy batman poster and The Professional anime on dvd.
Heard so many great things about The Professional yet never had the opportunity to really try it out. I am most definitely excited to give it a shot soon. :D

----------------------------------------------------

Other than that,
there's not really much else to show ....
besides the standard airplane shots I always seem to do.
Hope you enjoy ;)

But of course, here's a traditional cheesy shot of us. "arrrrreeerruuuuu"

Cheers!

Meowth! That's right!

What's more fun than shooting a Meowth balloon cosplay? Probably jumping on it with friends to deflate it, in rush to see a movie.
Old man walking by totally thought we were all cute youngsters.

Silly Jilly

Just me, goofing off with lights and colour. I wish I had a crazier expression but I had forgotten how frustrating and difficult self portraits can be, so forgive such a serious glare from me. :P

Actually just finished wrapping up a photoshoot for one of my own cosplays (can't say I MADE it, myself but I definitely shall credit the one who did once I post)
In regards to the photoshoot, all I can say is, oh boy.
The amount of patience that goes in, into teaching people how to hold a reflector, and other objects can be exhausting. Final turned out great, which I'm thankful for.
Results shall be uploaded this Friday.

The Bright Light in Peoples Eyes

So, Canada celebrated it's anniversary earlier this week and friends and I decided to be carny pigs and stuff our faces in mini doughnuts and other terrible foods in celebrations. OH and I went on a ride alone ... with kids... I can at least say that it was more impressive than I thought it was, and this is coming from a female who enjoyed every second on the Superman.
We ended it with a splendid little fireworks display.
CHEERS!

Rewind Friday - All in the Pleasure of Things

Currently prepping and upgrading gear for future cosplay shoots which I'm immensely excited for.
In the meantime, here's a photograph from a year ago demonstrating my love for colours and ... pervyness? Who knows, but this was what I came up with one day. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Burfday, Dad

It was my Dad's Birthday this week, and in celebration, I took him out for breakfast, viewed possibly his new home and went strawberry picking to make a strawberry shortcake. A splendid time, and a great introduction to summer.
Here's a photo of us right after we picked our batch.

Louis, the womanizer

Now that I have extra free time, I've gotten the chance to catch up with friends like Elaine and Devon ... by bonding over Minecraft. On top of that, I've gotten to know a gentleman named Louis. He's quite the ladies man.
Throws up in my shoe, tries to take 360 controller, screams at people walking by his front door and on top of that; DOH those darn big blue eyes. <3
I'm not much for babies but even I'll say, he's pretty darn cute.

Now please, Louis, let your mom and I play Minecraft without any interrupti- you threw up in my shoe again? That's alright kid. They stank anyways.

Prometheus opening night with the crew

Oh just a little glimpse of our pathetic attempt in looking excited for Prometheus on opening night. Don't get me wrong, we definitely were excited but coming into a somewhat half dead theatre on a friday night, killed the energy a little I guess. That's Brantford, I suppose.
Our other friend was my tripod for she loves lurking in the shadow behind the camera.

Regardless despite some mixed opinion on the anticipated film, a great movie with great friends.

Anime North 2012 Sneak Peek

Well I have to say, this AN experience has been the best yet and although I had some tumbles on Saturday, I got back up and enjoyed the con for what it is. It went by the quickest this year but only because of the amount of wonderful moments that came with it.

Here's just a little sneak peek of some cosplayers and friends.

Sack Boy is back again this year.

Feeling Lucky, Punk?

Ahaha now that summer has arrived, I've had some time to finally fill my mind with art and entertainment. It's honestly a bit of a challenge to constantly remind myself that I need to be engaged in my other interests as well. This is only difficult because during stressful times, whenever I do take a break, ie play games and watch movies, I feel like I'm wasting time. However, this is actually completely opposite since it's what fuels my thinking process and creativity.

This was a shot in response to just finishing up on some Clint Eastwood movies and was a sort of tribute to my dear friend, Alex who is in film. You can find some of his works here> Video

Oh Hi

Oh how I love it when I have these wonderful aspired talents coming to me asking for me to take their shots. Wonderful people and fun little shoots make for a perfect Sunday, you know. Oh yes, and that cup of green tea with honey and a silly joke on the side.

Happy Jillian

Here I am, just chilling on the bedroom floor thinking up my artist statement with my pictures. This is an overall preview for you guys and the actual postings will come later. Who knows, maybe when I put up my website in due time. :)

This was such an overall great experience with my fellow cosplayers. Everyone is these pictures did a magnificent job and deserve even the slightest recognition for their dedicated costumes, all of which were created by the person wearing them. I loved everything about this (except that darn mother nature at times)

Posting will be up later!

The Purple Monster Lurks

I love my room, and admittedly got bored and decided to do something fun with it. It's definitely not this messy all the time, but during the high stress of the semester, things are forgotten on the floor.

But anyways, I've been watching a youtube channel which focuses around a guy named PewDiePie playing some horror games. For me, it's hilarity at its' finest and I stumbled upon one video which he starts playing a game named Ao Oni.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ8anfvviEY

Kind of inspired me to do said picture. I thought it was a simple but great concept for a horror game. Very intrigued by it. I mean yeah, a purple monster jumping out of nowhere chasing you around the house does kind of sound like a lame horror game, but people like me can only take so much.

The actual picture itself didn't take too long to accomplish. Only 20 minutes in shooting and roughly an hour in editing. I was only stuck on how to make the floor look believably like a hole was smashed. All I used were available lights in my room and a couple of speedlites with purple gels on them to create a more interesting, eerie look. Ahaha thus deemed the purple monster lurks.

And another trip with Aaron Batey

Scouting, scouting, scouting for the day. Grab a coffee, hope for pizza, put on a jacket, drive around different, strange areas, attempt to clean the bird shit off your car and vola! A pretty fun day.
Here is my buddy Aaron and I, searching for somewhat lush gardens to shoot in for my next submission for my portfolio.
Got plenty of protein from the bugs that day. Yep!

50 Delightful Strangers

Since I've been super busy with shooting and editing, I can't upload anything new at the moment. So, instead, I figured I would show you guys one of my favourite projects.

This was such a crazy day for me, since I'm a sort of, a tad bit, maybe shy person at heart, so going up to as many people as I could, asking for their picture taken while wearing silly 3-D Coraline glasses was really a huge task for me. With the results though? So happy how well the whole event turned out. What was the best, was how considerably nice and splendid these people were. One group even went out and sent a message to others to come to the overpass where I was shooting and pose for me. Security eventually came, but after explaining what I was doing, there were no complaints from them, except to take the rest of the shots handheld instead of using the tripod.

It went incredibly well, and because of this, I was so inspired to do the mini series I'm currently exploring with people and light. Still adding more people to that list. :D

Before "Cocktail" Photoshoot

This is just prep work before the actual cocktail shoot in studio.
Geez, this involved many many different props but thankfully found the most suitable ones for the shot.
Staying up stupid late to make sure everything is perfect .... actually makes the next day worth it. The final shot turned out great because of the prep work.
CONSIDER THIS, a turn of events and habits.

Where we came from...

Finally! After months of wanting to explore this theme, I finally found time to capture it all.
This is simple concept of our origins from the very universe itself. I wanted to portray beauty in its' rawest form and for me, this was the purest way.
I've wanted to dedicate this picture to someone who is really important to me, but sadly he isn't here anymore.
This is a real achievement for me, and I'm so thankful I had Uno and Garet to help me out with this.

Garet the Eastman

So here's a little shoot I did for a friend of mine and his theatrical portfolio.
It was actually super fun working with him and great to catch up on things since I last saw him.

To be honest, this was really rushed because of the time restricts we had in studio.
We had two separate shoots within 3 hours. This was the first, and the second will be posted tomorrow.

A big thanks to Garet Eastman and Uno Jo for this!

Light And People Series

Hello again!

So, I've recently been exploring a little series including many many different people in their surrounding environment. I initiated this back in September of 2011 and wanted to keep it a secret until it was complete,... but it doesn't look like it will see sunshine till ... well summer starts.
I'm hoping to wrap the series up, sometime in September.
As you can see, that's so far away, so instead I figured to reveal a sneak peek.

And the person?
She's Brooke Shaden, a great fine art photographer residing in Los Angeles.
This was taken while I was her assistant for a week.
She was incredibly sweet and helpful. I thank her so much for this opportunity.

You can find her work here at: http://brookeshaden.com/
